A VLOGGER who complained of the alleged spoiled rice distributed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XI was summoned by the agency on Wednesday.

Narciso Lagungan, or BOY Gutter VLOG confirmed this on his Facebook post on Tuesday.

In his video uploaded on Oct. 19, which gained 24K reactions, 6.8K comments, 14.8K shares, and 1 million views, Lagungan claimed that the rice they received was hard and foul-smelling.

Kamong mga DSWD kung mag relief man galing mo kanang nindot pud nga bugas, mag-relief man unta mo mura naman nig bato (You in the DSWD, if you are going to distribute relief, hopefully you give out quality rice not like this that’s hard as a rock),” he said.

Bisan wala pa unta tay sakit magkasakit na lang ta gumikan inyong relief hastang quality-ha (Even if we are healthy, we might even get sick because of the poor rice quality),” he added.

He called on the agency to reveal how long the rice might have been stored in facilities before they were distributed.

Lagungan alleged that the cooked rice caused discomfort to those who consumed it, including his family.

DSWD XI regional director Rhuelo Aradanas posted a comment on the said video explaining that the agency uses vacuum-sealed rice in every Family Food Packs (FFPs) to avoid spoilage, pest infestation, and extend shelf life.

Kini nga modernong pamaagi sa pagputos nagpasiguro sa kalidad ug integridad sa mga relief goods para sa mga biktima sa kalamidad (This modern way of packing ensures the quality and integrity of the relief goods for calamity victims)” Aradanas said.

Aradanas said each family is entitled to only one food pack and that the rice the vlogger was holding appeared to be unopened.
