A HOMEGROWN brand is poised to provide an alternative transport solution as RideIT, the first Davao-developed transport network company (TNC), prepares for its full-scale launch this March.
Speaking at the Davao Peace and Security press briefing at the Royal Mandaya Hotel on Wednesday, Caesar Kevin Joven, CEO and founder of RideIT, announced that the app has officially secured accreditation from the LTFRB Central Office.
“RideIT is proudly a Davaoeño app. It was developed here in Davao City by our local team,” Joven told reporters. “For the first time, there will be a ride app for motorcycles representing Davao City on a national scale.”
A gift for ‘Davao Day’
While the app underwent a soft launch last year, Joven revealed that the target for full operational status is March 2026, coinciding with the Araw ng Davao celebrations.
The company is currently in the thick of its “Driver Orientation Program” and is aggressively hiring taxi, car, and motorcycle drivers.
Joven emphasized that the app aims to provide flexible livelihood opportunities, allowing motorcycle owners to pick up passengers on their way home through a “destination-based” booking feature.
Regulatory green light
The startup’s journey to national accreditation was bolstered by the Davao City Council. “Before we had this accreditation in the national [office], the City Council endorsed it,” Joven explained.
The company is currently coordinating with Councilor Jopet Baluran for further recommendations and a privilege speech to align the app’s rollout with local government programs.
Joven assured the public that the LTO and LTFRB Davao are “highly supportive” of the initiative, ensuring that all riders obey strict safety policies.
From ‘Reddit’ to ‘RideIT’
The app’s unique branding is a nod to both its origins and its home city. The logo features the Philippine Eagle , a symbol inseparable from Davao’s identity.
Interestingly, Joven shared that the name was inspired by the social media platform Reddit, where the founding team of Davaoeño developers first met and formed the concept—transitioning from “Reddit” to “RideIT.”
RideIT is designed as an all-in-one mobility tool, offering:
- Motorcycle Taxis: A legal alternative for commuters, specifically targeting students and BPO workers.
- Car and Taxi Hailing: Providing more options for urban travelers.
- Delivery Services: A secure system where recipients must sign for parcels to ensure proof of delivery.
For those looking to join as riders, the company is prioritizing motorcycles that are at least three years old (models from 2020-2022), provided they pass a stringent vehicle condition check.
The app is currently available for download on both iOS and Android.
Joven hinted at a special announcement scheduled for Valentine’s Day as part of their pre-launch countdown.
