DAVAO LIGHT and Power Company Inc. (DLPC) will officially commence its power distribution services in the areas of Tagum City and the municipalities of Kapalong, New Corella, and Talaingod after the implementation of the supplemental writ of possession on Monday, May 25, 2026.
During a press conference, DLPC president and chief operating officer Engr. Enriczar Tia announced that full operations will take effect on May 26 at 12 am, and the company will start billing electricity consumption for the covered areas.
The Sheriff of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 2, Tagum City, implemented the supplemental writ of possession, which is based on the May 15, 2026, order of the court granting DLPC’s lawful right to expropriate the distribution system previously owned by the Northern Davao Electric Cooperative Inc. (Nordeco) in Davao del Norte.
The enforcement of the court order follows the Supreme Court decision affirming the validity of Republic Act No. 12144, which allowed the company to extend its franchises in the province.
Areas covered by the said writ will include electrical maintenance, new service applications, billing and collection, and other customer services.
DLPC continues to remain hopeful for the full cooperation of Nordeco and its board of directors to ensure a safer and orderly transition process for the consumers.
Davao del Norte governor Edwin Jubahib highlighted that all complaints, such as brownouts, damaged electrical lines, or posts, will be addressed by DLPC. He hopes that businesses in the province will thrive without having the worry of power interruptions once operations are in full swing
Last Mar 25, 2026, DLPC acquired Nordeco’s substations after the writ of possession (dated Feb 27, 2026) issued by the RTC Branch 2, Tagum City, which aimed to benefit residents with reliable and affordable electricity services.
The company had also begun power distribution operations in the Island Garden City of Samal with the recent inauguration of the 1.25-kilometer submarine cable project on April 17.
The project was designed to connect the Davao City mainland grid to the island to meet its electricity demand.
