THE DAVAO City Council on Tuesday, Feb. 24, extended financial aid to local government units that declared a state of calamity due to the devastation wrought by Typhoon Basyang in early February.
A total of 320,524 families or 1,160,732 persons are affected in 1,464 barangays from Typhoon Basyang.
The 21st City Council approved nine ordinances on Tuesday, providing financial aid covering the following:
1. Province of Surigao del Sur- P1 million
2. City of Iligan,Lanao del Norte- P500,000
For municipalities under Surigao del Sur:
3. Municipality of Cortes- P300,000
4. Municipality of Madrid- P300,000
5. Municipality of Bayabas- P300,000
6. Municipality of Cagwait- P300,000
7. Municipality of Carmen- P300,000
8. Municipality of San Miguel- P300,000
9. Municipality of Lanuza- P300,000
Proponent Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, committee chair on finance, ways, means and appropriations, said the funds will be sourced from the 30% Quick Response Fund (QRF) portion of the 5% Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (DRRMF) for the calendar year 2026.
Dayanghirang emphasized that the city has available P235,203,855 under the FY 2026 Annual Budget of the DRRMF.
Alfredo D. Baloran, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head, recommended giving financial assistance to the local government units that declared a state of calamity due to Typhoon Basyang.
This is in line with DRRMC Resolution No. 09-2022, adopting DCDRRMC Resolution No. 05-2020.
