DAVAO City extended P4 million in financial aid to several provincial governments that declared a state of calamity following Typhoon Uwan.
The ordinance, authored by Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, chairperson of the committee on finance and appropriations, was approved during the regular session on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Dayanghirang said the aid will be sourced from the 30% Quick Response Fund from the 5% Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund for 2025.
The financial assistance covers the following:
- Province of Kalinga- P1 million
- Province of Albay- P1 million
- Province of Pangasinan- P1 million
- Province of Northern Samar- P1 million
Uwan displaced 7.6 million people, recording 33 deaths and 88 injuries from 725 cities and municipalities, according to the NDRRMC report on Nov. 26.
Last December 2, the city council also approved an ordinance providing P5.9 million to the Province of Dinagat Islands, Cebu City, some cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental, and Negros Oriental following the devastation of Typhoon Tino.
To note, Cebu province, cities, and municipalities that declared a State of Calamity after the Magnitude 6.9 earthquake last Sept. 30, 2025, were also provided financial aid totaling P3.9 million.
Davao City also extended financial aid totaling P2.7 million to the Davao Oriental province, cities, and municipalities that declared a state of calamity after the Magnitude 7.4 and 6.9 earthquakes last Oct. 10, 2025.
