Presented by TRYP by Wyndham Samal, the event has grown to be the largest 5150 race weekend in the Philippines for 2026, offering a race experience that combines sports competition with local tourism set in the tropical coastline and island roads.
As the last leg for the 5150 Islands of the Philippines campaign, IGaCoS hosted the final event of the four-race journey on the main race day on Sunday, Sept 20, with athletes from 14 countries who took on an Olympic-distance challenge of a 1.5km swim, 40km bike, and 10km run courses.
Sunrise Sprint, which was also held on the race day, challenged participants with courses of 750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run, providing a shorter distance pathway into multisport racing.
A Coral Dash 5km fun run opened on Saturday, Sept. 19, bringing together running communities and long-time marathoners.
During a media conference, Samal Mayor Lemuel “Toto” Reyes said Damosa’s 5150 triathlon gave Samal an opportunity to be recognized internationally for hosting big races and as an emerging tourist destination in the Philippines.
It also highlights what Samal has to offer from its beaches, popular resorts, coral gardens, waterfalls, to marine attractions..
Through one of Damosa Land’s newest developments on the island, Bridgeport provides a destination and marina-lifestyle community experience for the racers and visitors by its harbor view estates, park, and shipyard.
The 13-hectare seaside development is situated in Barangay Caliclic, and is strategically located near the Samal Island–Davao City Connector (SIDC) bridge which is set to be completed in the year 2028.
