The Consulate General of Japan in Davao is excited to announce the “Japan Music & Culture Stage,” a vibrant celebration of Japanese culture and friendship, to be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, 1:30PM – 3PM, at The Annex Event Center, SM City Davao.
This event is an official commemorative event to celebrate the Japan–Philippines Friendship Year (70th Anniversary of the Normalization of Diplomatic Relations). By showcasing traditional and contemporary performances that resonate with the youth, the Consulate aims to deepen the interest and understanding of Japanese culture among a broad audience in Davao.
Program Highlights:
Wadaiko and Sōran Bushi Performance: A live presentation of Japanese drums (wadaiko), and a traditional sea shanty dance called Sōran Bushi, performed by students from Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku (MKD) and the Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School (PNJK-IS).
Special Program by fuyu: A special musical set by “fuyu,” a new unit featuring renowned Japanese artists Fumiya and Yukan from M.S.LAB. Fumiya and Yukan have garnered significant following among Filipino youth for their unique renditions of Filipino songs in Japanese.
Japanese (Nihongo) Session: Interactive session with fuyu, introducing simple Japanese language and greetings.
City-to-City Friendship: A special video message from Hamamatsu City, Japan, will be screened to celebrate and further strengthen the city ties between Davao City and Hamamatsu City (where Fumiya serves as a Tourism Ambassador).
Admission is free for everyone.
