Davao City – Batang Pinoy 2025 medalists were hailed in grand rites dubbed as Dabawenyong Kampyon 2026: Araw ng Parangal at Pasasalamat, Saturday, 1 August at the Apo View Hotel Grand Ballroom. No less than Vice Mayor Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II and City Sports Development Division officer-in-charge Michael Denton Aportadera handed over their respective medals and incentives during the ceremonies.
Davao City placed third overall in last year’s edition of the Games held in General Santos City having 53 golds, 53 silvers and 68 bronze medals.
“It is with great pride for our athletes to bring the name of Davao City during the Batang Pinoy Games and did their best to finish third place overall,” Duterte II said in his speech.
Archer Abegail Jane Lime came out as the bemedalled athlete for Davao City having six gold medals.
Davao City’s athletes to the annual Games also included podium finishes in archery, arnis, athletics, basketball 3X3, boxing, chess, dancesport, futsal, gymnastics (women’s artistic, aerobics, rhythmic and trampoline), jiu-jitsu, judo, karatedo, kickboxing, muay thai, pencak silat, soft tennis, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, wrestling, wushu-sanda/taolo.
International athlete achievements were also honored led by para athletes Arvie John Arreglado, Evenizer Celebrado, Joel Derrida, Jannnil Canete, Henry Roger Lopez Jr., Evangeline Gamao, James Infiesto, Kendrews Granaderos, Edmond Montecillo, Ernie Gawilan, Racleo Martinez Jr., Smith Billy Carter and Zoren Mediola.
Others honored saw Sonny Wagdos (athletics), James Vincent Nisnisan (baseball), Francheska Darvin, Bhenz Semilla (dancesport), Annicah Cahatian (floorball), Mary Grace Berte (handball), Marc Alexander Lim, Carmela Estarija, Adonis Vidanes (jiu-jitsu), Jackie Lou Escarpe, Jenielou Mosqueda, Ryan Donor, Arthuro Llandino (kurash), Cesiel Domenios (lawnbowls), Simon Peter Servillion (MTB), Chino Sy, Sydney Sy, Ace Larida, Cresente Navares Jr., Janrey Pamor, Faiza Asium (Sambo) and John Russel Misal (table tennis).
