THE FIRST-EVER Davao Japan Friendship Golf Tournament will invite 180 local and foreign golfers to partake in tournament rounds and tourism activities on Dec. 5-6 at the South Pacific Golf and Rancho Palos Verdes.

Liza Gamo, Davao Hotels/Resorts Sales and Marketing Association Inc. (HRSMA) president, said the tournament is open to hobbyists and enthusiasts to showcase the golf tourism potential of Davao City.

Gamo said the city’s hotels and resorts are ready to welcome tourists who want to attend the upcoming tournament.

“Davao has a lot of beautiful golf courses that we can offer to the Japanese market,” she said during the PEP Talks on Nov 7.

Around 40 to 50 Japanese golfers currently residing in Davao City will also compete in the two featured golf courses.

“We were able to meet a lot of tour operators and partners in Japan who are very keen on golf,” she added.

Entrance fee costs P20,000 for the team or P10,000 per player. An early bird entry fee is also offered, starting at P18,000 (team) and P9,000 (per player), which is only up to Nov 16.

This includes a green fee of one practice round and two tournament rounds, a shared golf cart during the tournament proper, a caddy fee, a mulligan, meal vouchers, special giveaways, and raffle entries.
