THE EASTERN Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) has mobilized its forces to strengthen its Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) readiness, executing preemptive measures to safeguard communities in the path of Tropical Storm “Tino.”
In anticipation of the storm’s potential impact, EastMinCom troops were immediately deployed to carry out essential disaster preparedness operations, underscoring the military’s commitment to public safety during natural calamities.
According to EastMinCom spokesperson Lt Col Salvacion Evangelista, the Command’s disaster response teams performed several critical functions on the ground: Mobile Patrol Rescues, where they executed searches and rescues in potentially affected areas.
Providing transportation to assist in preemptive evacuations for residents in low-lying and high-risk zones.
Assisting local government units and disaster response agencies in mandatory forced evacuations to ensure all vulnerable residents were moved to safety.
EastMinCom emphasized that this prompt and coordinated action with LGUs and partner agencies exemplifies its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and ensuring public safety amid the threat posed by Tropical Storm “Tino.”
Personnel from the following units were among those involved in the extensive preparedness efforts: 402nd Infantry “Stingers” Brigade, 36th Infantry ”VALOR” Battalion, 28th Infantry (Kamagong) Battalion, 48th Infantry Guardians Battalion, 23rd Infantry “Masigasig” Battalion, 29th Infantry “Matatag” Battalion, and 30th Infantry “Fight On” Battalion.
The command’s operations highlight the ongoing importance of military presence in disaster response, fulfilling its mandate to serve and protect the Filipino people.
