  • DCPO initiates targeted road safety operation

THE DAVAO City Police Office-Traffic Enforcement Unit (DCPO-TEU) impounded 16 e-tricycles illegally operating on national highways and city roads.

The operation, led by PEMS Roey Ociones under the supervision of Lt Col Garcia, chief of the TEU, enforced Sec. 92 of the Davao City Traffic Ordinance, which strictly prohibits the use of e-bikes and e-tricycles on major thoroughfares.

According to DCPO spokesperson Capt Hazel Tuazon, the enforcement action was initiated to address a growing public safety concern.

She said e-bikes and e-tricycles are not designed for high-speed roads and their presence significantly increases the risk of road crashes and accidents involving fast-moving traffic.

The operation also reinforced compliance with the Land Transportation and Traffic Code (RA 4136), which mandates that vehicles must meet specific safety and registration requirements to be on public roads.
