THE 4TH Infantry Division has installed three new battalion commanders across its areas of responsibility to sustain regional peace and development.
MGEN Marion T. Angcao, 4ID commander, presided over the series of change of command ceremonies, ensuring institutional continuity and mission readiness as the division maintains its security mandate.
LTCOL Jaime M. Mendaros Jr. officially took command of the 26th Infantry Battalion, based in Barangay Zamora, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur, succeeding outgoing commander LTCOL Jose Redentor C. Gilbuela.
Under Gilbuela’s tenure, the 26IB achieved notable operational milestones through targeted security operations, extensive community engagements, and active support for local peace initiatives.
Meanwhile, LTCOL Rodulfo S. Cordero Jr. assumed leadership of the 29th Infantry Battalion stationed in Cabadbaran, Agusan del Norte, replacing LTCOL Mark S. Tabon. Tabon’s previous operations were instrumental in dismantling the North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee and paving the way for the Caraga region’s Stable Internal Peace and Security declaration.
These transitions follow an earlier leadership turnover on Sept. 12 at the 58th Infantry Battalion in Claveria, Misamis Oriental. During the ceremony, LTCOL Emmanuel L. Aranas Jr. assumed command from outgoing commander LTCOL Leoncito I. Grezula Jr., whose leadership delivered significant operational gains and secured the unit’s area of operation.
Angcao commended the outgoing commanders for their exceptional leadership in counterinsurgency and community development, while challenging the incoming officers to preserve past gains and adapt effectively to evolving security dynamics across Northern Mindanao and Caraga.
