THE PHILIPPINE Medical Association and the JCI Senate Philippines called on the public to recommend more nominees for The Outstanding Filipino Physician (TOFP) awards.

The annual TOFP program specifically targets professionals from rural health units, geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, and island communities whose work often goes unseen.

During Friday’s PEP Talks at SM Lanang Premier, Dr. Paul Roel Camiña, national chair of TOFP, stressed the TOFP’s mission to honor Filipino physicians who show excellence in their service.

“Remember, the TOFP, we want those who come from far-flung areas,” Camiña said.

He also urged the public to recommend more nominees to have a diverse pool of candidates in honoring deserving healthcare workers.

“We want to recognize those who really serve the underserved,” Camiña added, reinforcing the program’s commitment to promote health equity in medical recognition.

To qualify, the nominee must be a Filipino physician older than 40 years old, their medical practice must be concentrated in the Philippines, and they must embody the principles of Junior Chamber International.

Nominations kick off from July 1 to Oct. 20, 2026, followed by the awarding ceremony in December.
