THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) launched an intensified “Oplan Ronda” operation along the three-kilometer coastal stretch of Toril, covering communities from Barangay Daliao to Vales Beach, on Sunday, Jan. 25.

Acting director Col. Mannan C. Muarip personally spearheaded the activity, designed to assess the operational readiness of the security forces and enforce strict adherence to city ordinances in high-traffic coastal communities.

Accompanied by the 1st City Mobile Force Company-Special Weapons and Tactics (CMFC-SWAT) and personnel from Police Station 8, Muarip conducted an on-the-spot inspection and correction.

The patrol focused on Purok Pantalan and Purok Pogi-Lawis, where visibility is crucial for crime deterrence.

As a result, two minors were successfully rescued, and three citations were issued for RA 4136 violations, alongside one citation for the Anti-Smoking Ordinance.

Also, four citations were issued under Ordinance 0367-12 for being half-naked in public.

Compassion amid enforcement

Muarip also visited the bereaved family of an 11-year-old child who recently passed away.

The acting director provided personal financial assistance, a gesture that deputy station commander Cpt Bernard Blair Capitan noted as a reinforcement of the police’s role as community protectors, not just enforcers.

Muarip emphasized that the “on-the-spot” nature of these inspections is intended to ensure discipline and professionalism among the ranks.

“Strong community engagement is the backbone of our anti-criminality campaign,” the DCPO stated.
