TRAFFIC enforcement teams impounded 11 illegal payong-payong motorcycles and unregistered sidecars and issued 23 temporary operator’s permits (TOPs) during a targeted crackdown in Toril District on Thursday, Sept. 17.
The multi-agency drive was spearheaded by the Land Transportation Office XI Regional Law Enforcement Section, under Engr. Emmanuel Valenzona, alongside the Davao City Police Office Traffic Enforcement Unit and the City Transport and Traffic Management Office.
Enforcers targeted modified motorcycles fitted with makeshift umbrella canopies and colorum tricycles operating without valid franchises or safety clearance along major arterial roads in Toril.
Transport authorities emphasized that the operation formed part of an intensified campaign across Davao City to eliminate hazardous, unaccredited public conveyances and enforce strict road safety standards.
The 11 impounded vehicles were turned over to the LTO XI impounding facility pending the settlement of fines and legal modifications by their respective owners.
