IN A major push to curb gun-related violence, the Police Regional Office (PRO) XI recovered 67 loose firearms and arrested seven individuals during a nine-day crackdown from Oct. 1 to 9.
Under the leadership of acting regional director PBGEN Benigno L. Guzman, the continuous law enforcement drive led to the confiscation, surrender, capture, and recovery of undocumented firearms across various provinces and cities in the Davao Region.
The arrest of the seven suspects formed part of heightened security measures aimed at neutralizing illicit gun runners and preventing the potential use of unregistered weapons in violent crimes.
Guzman said that intelligence-driven operations will help stem the proliferation of illegal weapons and maintain regional stability.
“Accounting for loose firearms is critical in preventing potential violent crimes,” Guzman said, emphasizing the need for continued coordination among police units, local government units, and community members to facilitate the proper surrender of undocumented guns.
The PRO XI urged the public to remain vigilant and report any information regarding illegal firearms or suspicious activities to their local police stations to help preserve peace and public safety in the region.
