XONARA Turns Vulnerability Into Power in New Single IMPERFECT” Featuring Ruby Ibarra

MANILA, Philippines — Rising girl group XONARA embraces the beauty of becoming with their new single “IMPERFECT,” a self-love anthem about choosing authenticity over impossible expectations. Arriving just four months into their debut, the track reveals a more vulnerable and personal side of the group as they confront self-doubt, overthinking, and the pressure to live up to standards set by others. Rather than hiding the qualities that make them different, XONARA reframes them as sources of individuality and strength. The song traces an emotional journey from questioning one’s worth to recognizing that perfection was never the requirement for being worthy in the first place. “IMPERFECT” was released on Oct. 2 across digital streaming platforms.

With “IMPERFECT,” XONARA turns its title into a declaration: “I’m perfect.” The wordplay captures the heart of the track, challenging the idea that worth should depend on fitting someone else’s definition of who or what you should be. Its message goes beyond simply accepting flaws, encouraging listeners to break old patterns, pursue their dreams, and recognize the people around them who may also feel unseen. What begins in uncertainty gradually becomes an act of self-acceptance, transforming vulnerability into something empowering. In doing so, XONARA offers a reminder especially resonant for young listeners navigating expectations of who they are supposed to become.

The single also brings XONARA together with Filipina-American rapper Ruby Ibarra, uniting two generations of Filipina artists around a shared message of identity, individuality, and embracing who you are. The collaboration expands the song’s perspective while reinforcing its central idea: there is power in owning every part of yourself, including the parts the world might tell you to change. Against a subject as intimate as insecurity, the meeting of these artists gives “IMPERFECT” a sense of solidarity rather than isolation. It recognizes that the struggle to feel enough can be deeply personal, yet widely shared. Through that connection, “IMPERFECT” becomes not only a song about self-love, but also an invitation for listeners to see themselves—and one another—with greater compassion.

“IMPERFECT” further widens the musical and emotional world XONARA has been building since their debut. After introducing their confident, gritty energy with “TABI” and exploring a softer, more R&B-driven sound on “PULA,” the group now steps into more exposed territory, allowing uncertainty and vulnerability to take center stage. The progression underscores XONARA’s growing range in both sound and storytelling, with each release revealing another dimension of their identity as artists. Rather than presenting confidence as the absence of insecurity, “IMPERFECT” finds strength in confronting it. Only months into their journey, XONARA is establishing a body of work that makes room for boldness, softness, doubt, and self-belief to coexist.

Following the single’s release, XONARA performed “IMPERFECT” live for the first time for its debut performance at the Music is Universal Showcase during Music Matters in Singapore on Oct. 4, 2026. The performance marks a fitting next chapter for a song built around being seen without pretending to be flawless. As XONARA carries the track from the deeply personal to a live audience, its message remains simple but powerful: imperfections do not diminish a person’s worth; they are part of what makes every individual uniquely themselves. With “IMPERFECT,” the group invites listeners to trade comparison for acceptance and pressure for possibility. And in a world constantly asking people to perfect themselves, XONARA offers a different proposition: perhaps the most powerful version of “perfect” is finally being comfortable with who you already are.
