VICE PRESIDENT Sara Z. Duterte on Saturday, March 14, graced the “EXTRA+Ordinary Pop-Up Exhibit” in Davao City as part of the continuing nationwide celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Office of the Vice President.

The exhibit highlights the OVP’s nine decades of public service, institutional milestones, and flagship programs under the anniversary theme “Duty, Continuity, and Legacy.”

During the visit, Duterte also led the signing of the OVP’s newly launched 90th anniversary coffee table book, which chronicles the institutional history of the office and the contributions of past and present vice presidents.

Former President and incumbent Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria M. Macapagal-Arroyo, who served as the country’s 10th Vice President, also joined the book signing portion of the said event.

Mounted as part of the OVP’s nationwide outreach initiative, the traveling exhibit brings curated archival materials, interactive installations, and historical narratives to communities beyond Metro Manila.

Visitors can explore displays that trace the evolution of the Office from its creation under the 1935 Constitution of the Philippines to its expanding role in contemporary governance.

In her message during the occasion, Duterte encouraged Filipinos, especially the youth, to engage more deeply with the country’s history and the lessons it carries for the future of the nation.

“History is often written by the victors and edited by the comfortable. I dare you to dig deeper into the nuances and the counter-narratives that have been pushed to the margins. A book shows a timeline, but only a patriot uncovers the truth between the lines,” she said.

“Study the decisions that were unpopular but necessary. Question the silence of the archives. Understand that our history is not just a collection of grand speeches, but a series of difficult, often messy, human choices.”

The vice president also called on Filipinos to safeguard the nation’s historical record and democratic legacy.

“I ask you to be the keepers of the record. Because every republic stays alive not just because it has a past, but because its youth has the courage to demand a history that is honest, complete, and unvarnished,” she added.

Echoing the anniversary theme, VP Duterte concluded her message with a call to action: “Duty. Continuity. Legacy. Don’t just read about them. Defend them.”

“Let us stand for the honor of our nation. Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas—para sa Diyos, sa bayan, at sa bawat pamilyang Pilipino.”

The pop-up exhibit’s March leg includes stops in Davao City at Ayala Malls Abreeza from March 10 to 14, followed by a run at the National Museum of the Philippines – Davao from March 15 to 28.

The exhibits are open to the public and free of charge.
