- 18-year-old nabbed in ₱1.6M marijuana haul
AN 18-YEAR-OLD suspect is facing life behind bars after anti-drug operatives seized over five kilograms of suspected dried marijuana during a buy-bust operation in Talomo on Wednesday afternoon.
The operation, which yielded approximately 5.2 kilos of illegal drugs with a street value of ₱1.6 million, was a coordinated strike by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency XI, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Southeastern Mindanao, and Police Precinct 15 (Ecoland).
The entrapment operation occurred at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Feb. 4, in PLDT Village, Talomo.
The suspect, identified only by the alias John, was caught after allegedly selling a vacuum-sealed sachet of marijuana to a PDEA undercover agent for ₱5,000.
According to PDEA XI spokesperson Nephi Noli Dimaandal, a more extensive search led to the discovery of four large vacuum-sealed packs of suspected marijuana, 24 smaller vacuum-sealed packs, and the marked buy-bust currency.
The teenager is currently being held in custody and faces severe charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
