Robillo called for stricter road discipline, heightened pedestrian safety, and proactive compliance with traffic and vehicle registration laws ahead of the holiday season.
“Pedestrians must be given the right of way at all times; motorists should yield even in the absence of pedestrians actively signaling,” he said, noting that drivers must monitor pedestrian lanes closely and stop until commuters have completely crossed.
Motorists were also urged to exercise caution and avoid overtaking near pedestrian crossings to prevent road accidents.
In addition to pedestrian safety, Robillo reminded vehicle owners not to wait for deadlines to renew expired driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations.
As December approaches, he issued a specific warning against driving under the influence, noting that holiday gatherings and parties significantly increase road risks, particularly for motorcyclists.
