INVESTORS navigate shifting global markets, rising healthcare costs, and the challenge of preserving wealth across generations, access to informed and diversified financial strategies has become increasingly important. Through its latest “Next in Wealth: Unlocked” market outlook series, UnionBank Wealth gave clients exclusive access to global and local investment insights on portfolio diversification, risk management, protection, and wealth succession planning to help them navigate an increasingly complex and evolving financial landscape.
Growing wealth through diversification
The investment discussions centered on a practical principle: portfolios intended to endure should not depend on a single market, asset class, or source of return. Investment experts from Lombard Odier, BlackRock, Fidelity International, and ATRAM Group shared how emerging global and local opportunities, diversified income sources, and disciplined portfolio construction can help investors pursue growth while managing downside risk.
Among the perspectives shared were the potential role of income-generating assets, the need to balance dividends and growth, and the importance of assessing opportunities through a long-term framework rather than reacting to short-term market movements. Local market considerations were also discussed to help clients place global themes alongside the country’s very own investment landscape.
Protecting wealth from unexpected risks
The conversations also emphasized that investment performance is only one part of wealth planning. Health can also place pressure on accumulated assets, disrupt cash flow, and affect plans for the family or business. Insurance experts from InLife discussed how appropriate local and international healthcare coverage can support financial continuity.
For UnionBank Wealth clients, the broader takeaway was to consider risk protection alongside expected returns. Building financial resilience also means identifying potential gaps early on and aligning insurance and healthcare solutions with risks a family may face.
Preparing wealth for the next generation
Succession planning was also highlighted at the “Next in Wealth: Unlocked” series. Not limited to transferring assets, it also involves preparing future wealth stewards to understand family goals, financial responsibilities, and the decisions required to preserve or grow the family’s legacy. The discussions highlighted the value of starting these conversations early, establishing a long-term framework, and giving the next generation practical financial knowledge.
Supporting this objective is the next chapter of the UnionBank Private NextGen Academy, which will be re-launched in partnership with the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), equipping successors with practical insights on wealth stewardship, leadership, and long-term legacy planning.
“Clients increasingly need a wealth approach that connects investments, protection, and day-to-day financial management rather than treating each need in isolation. When these elements work together, families are better equipped to preserve wealth, adapt to change, and prepare future generations for long-term financial stewardship,” said Gauraw Srivastava, Head of Wealth Management, UnionBank.
The series also showcased how clients can manage their finances more efficiently across borders and generations. Digital capabilities such as UnionBank Global Transfer and PayDirect were presented in the context of simplifying everyday financial management. As UnionBank Chief Marketing and Experience Officer Albert Cuadrante, noted during the series, making financial tasks simpler and more intuitive allows clients to focus on the decisions that have the greatest impact on their long-term goals and legacies.
A more meaningful client experience
Beyond the wealth-planning discussions, clients were treated to an engaging evening of exceptional music from acclaimed Philippine musical icons . “Stellar Diva” Bituin Escalante performed throughout the series, while InLife “Dreamweaver” and Brand Ambassador, the acknowledged “Megastar” Sharon Cuneta-Pangilinan, made a surprise appearance at the Quezon City leg.
A broader perspective on enduring wealth
Ana Aboitiz Delgado, UnionBank president and CEO, closed the night and brought the conversation beyond markets and portfolios, underscoring that wealth is ultimately about the people, aspirations, and legacies behind every financial decision.
“Behind every portfolio is a personal story shaped by family, aspirations, responsibilities, and the legacy each client hopes to build. Enduring wealth therefore requires more than identifying opportunities. It calls for disciplined diversification, appropriate protection, and thoughtful preparation of the next generation,” said Delgado.
As markets, family priorities and financial risks evolve, enduring wealth will increasingly depend on balancing growth, protection and preparation. Access to the right insights, tools and guidance can help families make informed decisions today while creating a stronger foundation for the generations that follow.
The “Next in Wealth: Unlocked” series was held in Cebu and Metro Manila last September 2026.
