MAWAB, Davao de Oro – The Municipal Government of Mawab has reserved 100 scholarship slots exclusively for Indigenous Peoples (IP) students under its first-ever Municipal Scholarship Program, underscoring the local government’s commitment to making higher education more accessible to the municipality’s indigenous communities.
The pioneering scholarship program, launched by Mayor Myrill Apit, offers a total of 200 scholarship slots, equally divided between 100 slots for Indigenous Peoples (IP) students and 100 slots for general or non-IP applicants.
The dedicated allocation for IP students reflects the municipal government’s recognition of the important role of indigenous communities in Mawab and its commitment to ensuring that they are given equal opportunities to pursue higher education.
Mayor Apit said the scholarship program is an investment in the future of Mawab, emphasizing that education remains one of her administration’s top priorities.
“This scholarship program is our investment in the dreams of every young Mawabeño. By allocating 100 scholarship slots exclusively for our Indigenous Peoples, we are affirming that they are an essential part of our community and deserve equal opportunities to finish college, achieve their aspirations, and become partners in the continued development of Mawab,” Apit said.
She added that no deserving student should be prevented from earning a college degree because of financial constraints, as the local government remains committed to providing educational opportunities to all sectors of society.
Interested applicants may download the official application form, complete the required information, and submit it together with the required documentary requirements within the application period.
The Municipal Scholarship Program forms part of the local government’s broader efforts to invest in education and human capital development, with the goal of producing more college graduates while ensuring that Indigenous Peoples are empowered through greater access to higher education.
