MANILA, Philippines – Across Asia Pacific, including the Philippines, wellness has moved from the fringes of self-care into the fabric of everyday life. From morning workouts and mindful nutrition to sleep tracking and stress management, consumers are investing more time and energy in improving their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Findings from Herbalife’s Asia Pacific Wellness Culture Survey 2026 point to the rise of a wellness culture across the region—one defined by the active pursuit of holistic well-being and the integration of physical, mental, and emotional health.
“We’re seeing a significant shift in how Filipinos approach wellness, with more people taking a proactive role in pursuing their health goals. However, intention alone is not enough to sustain this momentum. We must recognize the wellness gap and address the need for proper guidance, sustained motivation, and accessible wellness education,” said Kinki Lau, General Manager for Herbalife Philippines.
“At Herbalife, we are committed to being at the forefront of this movement, building wellness communities, and supporting Filipinos to make lasting, positive changes in their health and wellness journey.”
Close to four in five (76%) Filipino consumers surveyed say they now engage in a wider variety of wellness activities, and 74% do them more frequently than they did three years ago. Nine in ten (91%) Filipino consumers consider holistic health extremely important, while four in five (83%) say it matters more today than it did three years ago.
Broader market research also points to a similar trend, with sleep, stress, and anxiety now emerging as the top consumer health concerns, and younger adults paying closer attention to areas such as brain health, skin health, and hormone balance, according to an Innova Market Insights report published last year.
This supports how Filipinos use wearables, with around half of them using them for exercise and dieting. Nutritional value is also a significant factor considered by Filipino consumers when purchasing food, according to a 2025 consumer report.
Yet as wellness becomes a bigger priority, a more pressing question is emerging: are these efforts truly translating into better health?
Real-world wellness gap
While consumers recognize the importance of holistic health, many are not seeing the results they are aiming for, revealing an emergent wellness gap.
Only around three in five respondents in the Herbalife survey say their physical (58%), mental (61%), and emotional (59%) health is better than it was three years ago. Many say they struggle with time and motivation, making it difficult to sustain healthy routines consistently even when they have the right intentions.
In other words, the country’s wellness boom is not translating into better health because people do not care, but because healthy living is hard to sustain for the longer term without the right support systems, realistic guidance, and lasting motivation. This calls for a rethink of how wellness can be realistically achieved in the real world.
Rethinking wellness for the future
To turn wellness ambition into positive outcomes, a stronger culture of social wellness, where communities, brands and workplaces help people stay on track together, is needed. Friends, families, and wider communities should all come together to support, encourage and be accountable to one another on their wellness journeys.
Herbalife’s survey reveals a clear desire for more support, with 73% of respondents saying they want more support for physical health, 55% for mental health, and 50% for emotional health. This growing emphasis on “social wellness” suggests that healthier lifestyles are more likely to stick when they are reinforced by peer networks, shared routines, and a sense of belonging.
Encouragingly, more consumers are already bringing others into their wellness journeys. In the past year, more than half of survey respondents have either prepared or brought healthier food for others, or shared their wellness journey with someone else. Among them, 92% are doing so more often than they did three years ago — a sign that a stronger culture of social wellness may be closer than we think.
Making wellness a shared journey
As consumers embrace the idea of social wellness, the focus must shift from individual effort to building environments that help healthy habits take root. Communities and support networks can play an important role in helping people turn good intentions into sustainable routines, giving them spaces to learn, connect, track progress and stay motivated over time.
To create a more supportive wellness environment, consumers need access to spaces that make healthy living feel easier to sustain — from digital fitness platforms and social media communities to “phygital” models that blend in-person and virtual wellness experiences. Through these communities, people can connect, share their progress and support one another, making wellness more social, inclusive and sustainable. Over time, this sense of connection could help translate growing wellness efforts into more tangible, real-world health outcomes.
Already, the signs are encouraging. The rise of pickleball as well as the opening of various pickleball courts have gained momentum by offering highly social, small-group experiences that make wellness feel more engaging and communal. Similarly, Herbalife’s Nutrition Clubs in the Philippines have evolved into communities where like-minded wellness enthusiasts can exchange nutrition and fitness tips, find encouragement and stay connected.
The emergence of run clubs is proof of how Filipinos are seeking to meet not only their social but also health goals. These spaces are attracting more consumers with wellness experiences that combine fitness, mindfulness, relaxation and shared connections. These communities can help turn wellness into a shared and more rewarding experience. A community could be the final piece of the puzzle for consumers to keep up their health and wellness momentum over time.
Ultimately, closing the wellness gap in the Philippines will require a shift from seeing health as an individual responsibility to recognising it as a shared journey. As more consumers seek support, encouragement and connection in their wellness routines, the future of well-being will be shaped not just by personal discipline, but by the everyday communities that help people stay motivated, build healthier habits and sustain them over time.
