THE DAVAO Classic & Sports Car Club held the 23rd edition of the Hot August Races 1/8 mile legal drag racing event from Aug 21 to Aug 23 at the Ciudades Business Park in Barangay Mandug.
Car enthusiasts and race car drivers all gathered at the three-day event to show their driving skills at time trials, race proper, and quick 8 events.
Friday, Aug 21, opened a special day for the Diesel Competition where all racers in the diesel category revved up at the starting line.
Aug 22 and 23 were for the entries from Classes A, B, and C, where they practiced in a qualifying run before proceeding to the elimination rounds for an acceleration contest between two cars in a straight 1/8 mile distance.
Champions were awarded prizes, trophies, and merchandise from PrimeLube Lubricants.
The 2026 Hot August Races is organized by Davao Classic & Sports Car Club, in partnership with PrimeLube Lubricants, AMFM Productions, Ciudades, and the City Government of Davao.
The annual event is Davao City’s longest-running legal drag racing competition to provide a platform for professional racers and participants who want to join in thrilling races.
The races began in 2003, previously held at Crocodile Park Complex.
It is also supported by the Davao Drag Racing Association, launched in 2025, to foster responsible driving and road safety in coordination with the Davao City Sports Office, Public Safety and Security Office, City Transport and Traffic Management Office, Davao City Police Office, and Traffic Enforcement Unit.
