LAWMAKERS recognized Cocoa de Davao for its outstanding contribution to the promotion of Davao City as a premier producer of high-quality cacao products and as a leading advocate of cacao tourism.
During the Davao City Council’s regular session on Tuesday, June 23, Councilor Ragde Niño P. Ibuyan, chairperson of the committee on government enterprises and privatization, passed a resolution commending Cacao de Davao for its contributions to the city’s agricultural industry and tourism sector.
“Cacao de Davao has made an invaluable contribution in putting Davao City on the map as a source of world-class agricultural products and as a premier destination for cacao tourism,” Ibuyan said.
In a speech during the City Council regular session on Tuesday, June 23, Ethan Kyle Lim, CEO of Cacao de Davao, shared his vision for Davao City and encouraged other micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to inspire future generations of Davaoeños to dream bigger than themselves and transform opportunities into a lasting impact.
“As MSMEs, we should never think small because we started small. We should have the courage to build companies that create jobs, strengthen communities, support farmers, and bring Davao’s products to the national and even global market,” Lim said.
Cacao de Davao began in 2013 by Lim’s grandfather, and has been continuously operating for almost 14 years.
Throughout the years, Cacao de Davao has been consistently recognized both in local and international markets due to its excellence, competence, production, and promotion of high-quality cacao and chocolate products. In fact, the International Food Expo is one of the prominent recognitions they received.
Lim also highlights that they aim to support the local farmers through providing livelihood programs and by supplying machinery on farms to improve quality production, which helps expand their stores, creating employment opportunities for the locals.
“We offer machines to our farmers because if we help our farmers, they can produce top-quality goods, expand our products, and offer job opportunities,” he said.
