SKYRO strengthened its presence on the regional fintech stage at ASEAN Tech Summit Manila 2026, where the company served as a Platinum Sponsor and joined industry leaders in advancing the conversation around responsible, inclusive, and technology-driven financial services.
Held at the Marriott Hotel, the summit brought together financial institutions, fintech leaders, technology innovators, and policymakers from across Southeast Asia to discuss the future of the region’s digital economy. This year’s theme, “Building ASEAN’s Digital Economy: Secure. Sustainable. Inclusive. Borderless.”, placed a particular focus on how innovation can expand access while remaining secure, sustainable, and responsible.
For Skyro, the event provided a platform to highlight a key principle behind its approach to lending in the Philippines: expanding access to credit must go hand in hand with protecting customers and helping them borrow within their means.
During the Futurecast panel discussion, “Scaling Digital Lending Responsibly: Unlocking Access while Protecting Consumers,” Skyro Co-founder and Co-CEO Nasim Aliev shared how the company uses AI, data, and technology to broaden access to affordable credit while strengthening transparency, consumer protection, trust, and financial resilience.
Aliev emphasized that responsible lending begins not with extending more credit, but with understanding whether customers can realistically repay what they borrow. By using reliable customer information, credit history, and income data, Skyro works to structure repayment plans around customers’ ability to meet their financial obligations.
“Maintaining a healthy debt-to-income ratio helps ensure customers can comfortably meet their financial obligations throughout the repayment period,” Aliev said.
He added that responsible lending goes beyond interest rates and fees. It requires designing repayment structures that give customers a realistic path to completing their loans without creating unnecessary financial pressure.
Repayment flexibility is another important part of this approach. Aliev noted that customers can adjust payment dates and make changes to their payment schedules directly through the Skyro app, with this flexibility available through features such as Flexi.
“Flexibility is very important for us. We give customers the power to make these changes themselves,” he said.
Aliev further underscored the importance of ethical collections and transparent communication, particularly when customers experience difficulty meeting their obligations. He noted that responsible lenders should focus on helping customers avoid default through timely reminders, clear communication, and flexible repayment options.
“If we are all transparent about how we operate, both for board management and in areas like collections, by providing greater detail on our processes, everyone will benefit,” Aliev said.
Beyond the main-stage discussions, Skyro maintained a strong on-the-ground presence throughout the two-day summit through its interactive booth, where delegates connected with the team and discussed potential partnership opportunities.
Guests took part in SkyroPardy, an interactive trivia challenge where participants tested their knowledge for a chance to win exclusive Skyro merchandise and specially selected books. Visitors could discover SkyroCredit and other Skyro offerings while engaging directly with the team.
As digital lending continues to play a larger role in expanding financial access in the Philippines, Skyro believes the next stage of growth will depend not only on reaching more customers, but on ensuring that innovation continues to improve how people borrow, repay, and manage credit.
