THE EASTERN Mindanao Command’s (EastMinCom) 4th Infantry Division recovered five high-powered firearms from a New People’s Army (NPA) arms cache in Sitio Kalasungay, Barangay San Vicente, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur, on Sept. 22.
According to the delayed Army report, the discovery was the result of information given by high-ranking Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT) leaders Jari and his wife, Vivian.
Acting on the intelligence tip, a joint special intelligence effort involving troops from the 8th, 88th, and 26th Infantry Battalions, the 1st Special Forces Battalion, and intelligence units from the 4th Infantry Division carried out the operation.
Recovered from the cache were five high-powered firearms: one M60 machine gun, one AK-Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW), and three AK-47 rifles. Also seized were two RPK magazines and assorted ammunition.
The surrendered couple also played a role in disrupting planned NPA operations and atrocities within Bukidnon and Agusan del Sur.
