- DCPO reports 23.25% decline in criminal incidents in 2025
INDEX crimes dropped by 23.25% in 2025, which the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) attributed to intensified operations and a strong partnership with the local government unit.
Total index crimes decreased from 708 incidents in 2024 to 542 incidents in 2025, reflecting a reduction of 166 cases.
Significant declines were recorded in theft, rape, and robbery through strengthened police visibility and improved law-enforcement effectiveness throughout Davao City.
Index crimes refer to offenses against persons, such as murder, homicide, physical injury, or rape, and property, such as carnapping, theft, robbery, etc. They also serve as a barometer of effective policing, especially when significant reductions in incidents are recorded.
Col Mannan C. Muarip, acting DCPO chief, cited the enforcement of strategic operational plans, intelligence-driven policing, and sustained police visibility for the achievement.
“This substantial reduction in crime is the result of disciplined execution, swift and decisive action, and accountable leadership. Every police unit has been directed to uphold integrity, vigilance, and professionalism in safeguarding our communities,” Muarip emphasized.
He also credited the support of the city government, “whose sustained commitment to peace and order—through policy support, resource augmentation, and inter-agency coordination—has significantly enhanced the DCPO’s capacity to deliver effective, responsive, and people-centered police services.”
The DCPO assured Davaoeños that it will further intensify its crime-prevention and law-enforcement interventions to address emerging threats and sustain peace and order.
“We will not relent. Our commitment remains steadfast—to serve with honor, enforce the law without fear or favor, and ensure that Davao City remains a safe, peaceful, and orderly place for all,” Muarip said.
