Pre-dawn fire guts house in Bajada

A FIRE broke out during the early hours of Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at a home along Leon Maria Guerrero Street in Bajada, Barangay 30-C, Poblacion District.

Central 911 alerted authorities to the blaze at approximately 3:32 a.m. The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) deployed Mobile 16, manned by Pat. Villegas and PSSg Sahisa, to provide assistance to the Bureau of Fire Protection and various volunteer groups.

According to an investigation by SFO1 Michael Gamot of the Bureau of Fire and Protection XI, the fire started at approximately 3:14 a.m. 

Personnel and units from BFP XI, BFP Lanang, USAR 911 Fire Volunteers, Barangay 76-A Fire Volunteers, and other volunteer groups responded to the scene and controlled the flames by 3:59 a.m.

The BFP officially declared a “fire out” at approximately 5:03 a.m.

Initial findings from fire investigators indicated that the blaze was caused by faulty or old electrical wiring. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties or injuries from the incident.
