THE MINDANAO Development Authority (MinDA) reported the bilateral relations between the Philippines and Republic of Korea yielded investments across Mindanao.

In a statement, MinDA chairperson, Secretary Leo Tereso Magno, said the agency continues to facilitate Korean-led projects in priority sectors in the region.

“The strengthening of PH–Korea bilateral relations reflects the Marcos Administration’s vision for sustainable growth, technology-driven development, and inclusive prosperity,” Magno said.

“By removing bureaucratic hurdles and reducing the cost of doing business, we are opening the door for Korean partners to bring in capital, technology, and expertise that directly benefit Mindanao’s communities,” the secretary added.

MinDA said Korean investors are pursuing initiatives in renewable energy, water supply, wastewater treatment, waste management, and the mineral industry.

During its Mindanao–Korea Business Mission, MinDA facilitated JSCO Holdings’ exploration of potential sites in Surigao and Dinagat Islands for a nickel smelting plant.

Meanwhile, Chungwoo E&E Co. Ltd.’s collaboration with General Santos City on expanded water system and treatment facilities is underway.

MinDA also facilitated Ecoscorea and Smart E&A’s biogas energy project in Davao City alongside renewable energy and water system initiatives in Davao del Norte and Panabo.

The agency reported that a Korean-led Golf Course Project in Misamis Occidental is now undergoing technical site visits.

“These efforts build on the five Memoranda of Understanding signed with Korean companies last December and complement ongoing cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in rural development and capacity-building,” MinDA said.
