THE COMMANDING general of the Philippine Air Force (PAF), Lieutenant General Arthur M. Cordura visited the Tactical Operations Wing Eastern Mindanao (TOWEASTMIN) at Davao Air Station on Nov. 8, 2025.

The visit served a dual purpose: engaging with personnel on mission readiness and paying tribute to the heroism of two of the six airmen who perished in the recent Super Huey helicopter accident.

A day before his engagement, Cordura personally visited the families of Sergeant Yves B. Sijub, PAF, and Airman Ameer Khaidar T. Apion, PAF.

During the solemn meeting, the commanding general conferred the Distinguished Aviation Cross upon the fallen airmen posthumously.

He assured the grieving families of the PAF’s steadfast and continued support, honoring their profound sacrifice.

Cordura commended their selfless service and steadfast commitment to duty to the nation, recognizing their heroism as an inspiration to the entire Air Force.

The visit to TOWEASTMIN at Davao Air Station was also aimed at reaffirming the Air Force’s commitment to high mission readiness, morale, and the welfare of its personnel across the Eastern Mindanao area.

The CG PAF engaged directly with personnel to reinforce the importance of their roles as the guardians of the nation’s skies.
