- DCPO to file cases vs policewoman nabbed in smuggling bust
THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) promised swift administrative and criminal sanctions after arresting one of its active personnel during a joint anti-smuggling operation in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, on Oct. 17.
In an statement released by DCPO City Director PCOL Peter Bauzon Madria, the command reiterated its uncompromising zero-tolerance stance against illegal activities, corruption, and misconduct within the police force.
“No officer is above the law, and no one is exempt from accountability,” Madria said. “Any personnel found to have violated the law or compromised the ethical standards of the police service shall face the full force of administrative and criminal sanctions, regardless of rank or assignment.”
The arrest occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. during an entrapment operation targeting the illegal sale of untaxed cigarettes.
An active policewoman assigned to DCPO Police Station 18 (Bajada) was arrested alongside an alleged active Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit-Active Auxiliary (CAA) member attached to the 25th Infantry Battalion, and two other civilian accomplices.
Operatives confiscated seven master cases of illicit cigarettes, marked and boodle money, communication equipment, and vehicles used by the suspects.
The DCPO assured the public that it is closely coordinating with investigating units while initiating internal administrative proceedings against the involved officer.
