RESIDENTS in some parts along Ma-a Flyover, Ma-a Diversion Road, including Monteritz Subdivision and nearby areas, will experience an eight-hour scheduled power interruption to give way for the pole relocation.

The interruption will start from 10 p.m. on Aug. 28, 2025, to 6 a.m. on Aug. 29, 2025.

In the advisory, Davao Light said power will have to be temporarily cut to allow their crew to facilitate the pole relocation in the area in connection to the flyover project.

“Davao Light apologizes for the inconvenience of this service interruption, but it will exert all efforts to restore electric service as scheduled or earlier,” Davao Light said.

However, the utility provider stressed there are instances that restoration could extend beyond the schedule, considering unavoidable circumstances.

Fermin Edillon, head of Davao Light’s Reputation Enhancement Department, clarified in a phone interview that the affected areas will be contained in the Monteritz area near the Davao Christian High School along the Diversion Road and not the entire downtown.

In an interview, Councilor Louie Bonguyan said the pole relocation was the result of the ad hoc committee meeting and ocular inspection last Aug. 20.

“Its a good move of the city council to create the ad hoc so there will be a venue for us and DPWH, telcos, to monitor the Ma-a Flyover Project,” he said.

He added the interruption will be the first of the three sets of 10-hour power interruptions within two months. The legislator narrated what the contractor said about not being able to continue groundwork on the flyover’s approach due to the presence of the electricity poles.

“After the crucial poles are relocated, they can proceed with the construction of the approach,” Bonguyan added.

After a month, the DPWH, DLPC and Telcos are required to present before the city council the developments of the flyover project.
