THE CITY Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) activated the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and placed the city under “Blue Alert” status for this year’s Kadayawan Festival.

“This measure aims to intensify the emergency preparedness measures to ensure public safety and security,” CDRRMO said Tuesday.

In anticipation of the increased movement of people and potential risks of civil disturbances or natural hazards during the Kadayawan Festival, CDRRMC cited the need for proactive monitoring and response.

The Blue Alert level status will be observed throughout the 2025 Kadayawan Festival celebration from August 7-31, 2025.

“Raising the alert status to blue is primarily in preparation for any untoward incidents that could occur during the whole duration of said event, which requires immediate emergency medical intervention,” it said.

The status heightens the need for proactive disaster preparedness and response and augmentation of resources.

CDRRMO also activated the Emergency Operations Center to “ensure continuous coordination of all efforts, monitor the situation closely, and implement security and safety measures for the safe observance of the event.”

This year’s month-long Kadayawan Festival is set to open on August 8, Friday, at Magsaysay Park.
