ACTING Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte skipped the first flag-raising at City Hall on the first Monday of the month, July 7, after the inaugural ceremony of newly elected officials.
Councilor Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II, designated as the acting vice mayor, led the ceremony, alongside reelected Councilor Temujin Ocampo and newly elected Councilor Ragde Ibuyan.
Rigo told the department heads and city employees to consider their privilege and responsibility as public servants.
“Our duty to the people of Davao City is a commitment that requires us to serve with compassion, integrity, and purpose,” he said.
“Let us renew our commitment to upholding this trust with unwavering decency, honesty, and respect for our fellow Davaoenos,” he added.
He concluded his message by wishing everyone a productive week ahead.
“Let us embrace the week ahead with a sense of duty and determination, striving to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve,” Rigo stressed.
Following the temporary legal incapacity of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, who was proclaimed mayor-elect in absentia, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has formally directed Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte to assume the role of acting mayor pursuant to Administrative Order No. 15, series of 2018.
Rigo presided over the 21st City Council on its inaugural session last July 1, which changed the schedule from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. effective Tuesday, July 8.
