THE PHILIPPINE Coast Guard (PCG) has ramped up its maritime safety operations across the Davao Region, assisting nearly 60,000 passengers as of midnight, March 31, 2026.

Under Oplan “Byaheng Ayos: Semana Santa 2026,” the Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSEM) reported a total of 59,091 passengers successfully monitored and assisted.

The maritime update also noted the inspection of 375 larger vessels, 415 motorboats (mbca), and the processing of 26,861 rolling cargoes.

900+ personnel deployed across Davao Region

To manage the heavy influx of travelers, CGDSEM has mobilized a formidable force of 939 personnel.

These teams are strategically stationed across seven main Coast Guard stations and 51 substations throughout the region.

Acting on the directives of PCG commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan, the district is maintaining a “heightened alert” status.

Personnel are conducting round-the-clock monitoring and strict vessel inspections to ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations.

Travelers are advised to prepare for atmospheric changes, as the latest maritime update indicates partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies.

Scattered rainshowers or thunderstorms are expected across Southeastern Mindanao, which may impact small sea craft movements.

Emergency response and hotlines

The CGDSEM has established passenger assistance desks in all major ferry terminals and ports.
