MAJOR General Alvin V. Luzon, commander of the 10th Infantry Division, visited the 10th Civil-Military Operations (Kalinaw) Battalion headquarters in Barangay San Agustin, Tagum City, on March 26, 2026.

Accompanied by key staff officers, Luzon was received by Lieutenant Colonel Tony C. Bugawan, battalion commander.

During the visit, Bugawan provided a comprehensive briefing on the unit’s initiatives to prevent the resurgence of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), specifically highlighting sustained community engagement and strategic information operations.

Luzon commended the battalion for its extensive field deployments and success in civil-military operations.

He underscored the need for continuous capacity-building to ensure the “seamless execution” of the Division’s mission objectives.

“Your role in shaping public support and strengthening community resilience is vital in sustaining our peace gains,” Luzon told the troops. “Remain steadfast, professional, and committed to excellence in carrying out your mandate.”

The visit concluded with a “talk to the troops” in which he reminded the soldiers of professional conduct.

He urged personnel to maintain the highest standards of the service and to remain strictly non-partisan, warning against any involvement in political activities that could compromise the military’s institutional integrity.

The visit highlights the 10th Infantry Division’s strategy of utilizing civil-military units as primary enablers for long-term peace and development while insulating the organization from political influence.
