MAWAB, Davao de Oro — Mayor Myrill Apit has intensified the Municipality of Mawab’s campaign against bullying, urging schools to strengthen their efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
Mayor Apit invited Department of Education (DepEd) District Coordinating Principal Rosario Angostura Noñeza and Mawab Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) head Ever Lucas for a discussion on the issue of bullying among learners.
Following the meeting, the Department of Education and the local government unit (LGU) of Mawab agreed to forge a partnership to develop programs that will protect students and promote a supportive school environment.
Mayor Apit emphasized that bullying will not be tolerated in the municipality.
“There is no room for bullying in Mawab. We will not allow any child to be afraid of going to school because of the harmful actions of others,” Mayor Apit said.
She also vowed to continue working closely with teachers and parents to stop bullying and ensure that cases are addressed promptly.
The action came after a reported incident involving a high school student who self-harmed due to depression, with bullying believed to have been a contributing factor.
