Law students from Section Gaius of Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc. (JMCFI), under the mentorship of Atty. Vicco Gerona Piodos, their Criminal Law II professor, extended support to 100 Persons Deprived of Liberty through a holistic community outreach program that included the delivery of various services such as psychological consultation, spiritual service, technical education assistance, legal services, a briefing on Philippine legal frameworks, and the distribution of hygiene kits and food packs at the Correctional Institution for Women Mindanao in Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte, on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

The class was personally received by DPPF Superintendent CSUPT Abel D.R. Ciruela, MSCA, and received strong backing from the JMCFI College of Law, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), VGP Law Office, the JMCFI Guidance, Assessment and Counseling Center, and Transform Global Faith Ministries.

Through this activity, the law students were given the opportunity to learn criminal law beyond the four walls of the classroom and gain firsthand experience of the criminal justice system beyond its punitive character, with emphasis on correction and rehabilitation.
