- Pre-dawn fire razes residential neighborhood
A MASSIVE fire tore through a residential community in Purok Malamboon, Barangay 76-A, near Ecoland Phase 1, early Tuesday morning, destroying dozens of homes and displacing hundreds of residents.
According to the report of the Bureau of Fire and Protection XI, the blaze, which broke out at approximately 3 a.m, quickly escalated as it swept through the densely populated area.
Firefighters battled the flames for four hours before the situation was brought under control.
While the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) confirmed zero casualties or injuries, 75 families or 586 individuals were directly affected as 50 houses were totally burned and 15 were partially damaged.
The rapid spread of the fire saw the alarm levels jump twice within two hours:
- 3:16 am – 1st Alarm triggered.
- 3:40 am – 2nd Alarm raised.
- 5:03 am – 3rd Alarm declared as the fire threatened more structures.
- 6:01 am – Fire declared under control.
- 7:04 am – Official “fire out” status.
According to the bureau, the affected area covered approximately 2,000 square meters.
Meanwhile, the BFP XI investigators are currently determining the cause of the blaze.
While the cost of the damage is still being calculated, local social welfare teams have begun registering the victims to provide emergency assistance and temporary shelter.
