FORMER President Rodrigo Roa Duterte told 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte that he’s “ready to rest” during the latter’s recent visit to the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention center in The Hague.

“He said he’s ready to rest,” Duterte said, although he did not elaborate on what his father meant.

The former President, who is facing charges of crimes against humanity at the ICC, was reportedly found to be calm and at peace during the meeting with his son.

Despite the circumstances surrounding his detention, Rep. Duterte assured supporters that his father remained in good spirits.

The congressman also thanked the Filipino people and supporters abroad who continue to voice their support for the former President.

The statement follows recent developments in the ICC proceedings, including the court’s denial of a request for Duterte’s interim release and ongoing disputes over the appointment of doctors to assess his fitness for trial.
