  • CTTMO sets new rules for smoother traffic

THE CITY Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) will enforce new traffic regulations to take effect immediately as the Ma-a Flyover will officially open to motorists on Monday, March 2, 2026.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Davao announced the development of the flyover during a blessing ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 28.

The CTTMO announced the regulations on its Facebook page on the same day to manage vehicle flow and reduce congestion in the area.

According to the CTTMO traffic plan, no extra heavy vehicles are allowed on the flyover during truck ban hours from Monday to Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Left turn is prohibited when exiting Davao Christian High School, so motorists are advised turn right and make a U-turn ahead.

A regulated left turn is permitted for all vehicles entering the school from the Ma-a Flyover on Monday to Friday, from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Vehicles coming from Ma-a Road going to the school are not allowed to turn left. Instead, they must use the Ma-a Bypass Road and execute a U-turn.

Meanwhile, all vehicles coming from Ma-a Road heading to Magtuod Road or C.P. Garcia Highway (southbound) must turn right and make a U-turn ahead.

Vehicles coming from Magtuod Road heading to Ma-a Road or C.P. Garcia Highway (northbound) are told to turn right and execute a U-turn ahead.

The CTTMO will deploy traffic enforcers and has installed signage at key intersections to assist motorists with the new traffic flow directions.

Motorists are advised to follow measures to improve traffic movement and safety around the flyover and surrounding road networks.

The civil works of the controversial flyover started in 2022 but were delayed due to road right-of-way and funding issues.

It can be noted that the Davao City Council formed an ad hoc committee in August 2025 to oversee and coordinate with stakeholders to fast-track the Ma-a Flyover Project and committed to deliver by March 2026.
