IN A POWERFUL fusion of literature and social impact, David Haldane proudly announces the launch of his latest book, “Dark Skies: Tales of Turbulence in Paradise,” with a special event, “Libro Kontra Gutom,“ dedicated to a cause close to his heart, the fight against hunger.

“This book is a tribute to resilience,”  Haldane said. “And I couldn’t think of a better way to honor that than by supporting those who wake up every day wondering where their next meal will come from.”

Dark Skies” is a heartfelt collection of essays that picks up where Haldane’s award-winning 2023 book, “A Tooth in My Popsicle,” left off, chronicling what The Manila Times has called “the storms—literal and metaphorical—he’s weathered” since moving to the Philippines with his Filipino wifeand two children in 2018.

“Known for blending sharp reportage with personal reflection,” the newspaper reports, “Haldane pulls no punches…From surviving Typhoon Odette and the emotional fallout of the pandemic to cultural clashes and environmental upheavals, Haldane brings his signature clarity and candor to the page, offering “a rare blend of historical perspective, personal depth, and narrative driver.”

The official book launch will take place at 4 p.m. on August 27, 2025, at Kawa Pilipinas House 1025 C. Ayala St. Malate, Manila, gathering literary figures, advocates, and community leaders for an evening of meaningful dialogue, literary celebration, and tangible action.

All proceeds from the event and a portion of book sales will benefit Kawa Pilipinas Foundation. Tickets are available online via Ticket2me.net/DavidHaldane
