THE EASTERN Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) has lined up a series of community-centered outreach programs, cultural events, and military honors ahead of its upcoming anniversary celebration on Aug. 28.

Speaking at the Davao Peace and Security Press media briefing on Wednesday, EastMinCom spokesperson COL Rosa Maria Cristina Rosete-Manuel outlined the military command’s anniversary activities, emphasizing that the milestone highlights both troop morale and EastMinCom’s enduring partnership with local communities.

Rosete-Manuel noted that the command recently concluded initiatives honoring military veterans and reaffirmed its continued support for former service members.

Supporting young cancer patients

As part of its anniversary lineup, EastMinCom is hosting the 5th iteration of the Drive for Hope Charitable Golf Tournament on Aug. 21. The event invites golf enthusiasts to participate in raising funds for young cancer patients.

Proceeds from the tournament will directly benefit children undergoing treatment through the House of Hope Foundation.

Following the tournament, EastMinCom personnel will hold a gift-giving activity for young patients at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) on Aug. 24.

Showcasing military talent

On Aug. 25, EastMinCom will open a special art exhibit featuring creative works produced by military personnel.

The artwork has been showcased on the official EastMinCom social media page, where the public is invited to vote for their favorite pieces to determine the recipient of the People’s Choice Award.

The celebration will culminate on Aug. 28 with an official ceremony featuring the blessing and opening of a new military facility designed to bolster troop operational support and welfare, and

presentation of military awards to deserving soldiers, reservists, and civil stakeholders who have contributed to regional peace and development.

“More than celebrating our history, these milestones honor the partnership between the people and Eastern Mindanao Command,” Rosete-Manuel said. “It reaffirms our commitment to serve with professionalism, integrity, and excellence in service to the nation.”
