THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XI is set to release food packs, family kits, and tents to quake-hit Manay town in Davao Oriental.
Manay was struck by a 6.4-magnitude earthquake on Wednesday, Jan. 7, after recovering from the twin earthquakes last October 2025.
Following the earthquake, Manay Mayor Jon Marco Dayanghirang paid a courtesy call to DSWD XI regional director Rhuelo Dalilis Aradanas regarding the incident.
In response, a total of 2,000 family good packs, 200 family kits, and tents were provided as first aid while assessment is ongoing.
The agency said it is ready to provide more relief response after an organized coordination with the affected municipality.
As of January 7, a total of 35,581 Family Food Packs (FFPs) and 19,651 Non-Food Items (NFIs) are currently stored at the regional warehouses of DSWD XI.
In Panacan Warehouse, there are 20,194 FFPs and 8,319 NFIs, while in Bago Warehouse, there are 15,387 FFPs and 11,332 NFIs. There are prepositioned FFPS in various provinces in the region for a smoother relief response.
This includes 3,979 FFPs in Davao de Oro; 5,938 in Davao Occidental; 2,322 in Davao del Sur, and 2,813 in Davao del Norte.
However, at present, there are no prepositioned FFPs in Davao Oriental.
To note, close to 170,000 families in Davao Oriental were affected after Manay was badly-hit by the twin earthquakes last October 2025.
DSWD-Davao posted to have distributed P46.14 worth of food packs, family kits and other non-food items in the province.
The agency has directed its field offices to be on alert and submit situational updates for a swift response.
