DICT, Tech4ED Centers offer free communication assistance to families of Middle East OFWs

THE DEPARTMENT of Information and Communications Technology- Davao announced free communication assistance to families of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) amid the ongoing situation in the Middle East.

“We know that many families across the Davao Region are carrying heavy hearts, hoping to hear from their loved ones abroad,” DICT said in a statement on Thursday.

To help ease this burden, partner Tech4ED centers across the region welcome families who wish to connect with their relatives overseas.

The Tech4ED centers offer free use of computer and high speed Internet access, video messaging applications and staff assistance.

Residents can visit the nearest Tech4ED Center in their area which is open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For Davao Occidental these are located at Barangay Carahayan, Jose Abad Santos; and in the municipality of Malita are LGU Jose Abad Santos, Caburan Small; Malita Digital Transformation Center, Poblacion; ALS-North Malita in Brgy. Tubalan; and Demoloc Valley National High School in Brgy. Demolok.

On the other hand, in Davao del Sur, Tech4ED centers are in LGU Sta. Cruz Digital Transformation at the Old Municipal Hall Compound, C. Gadoy St. Sta. Cruz; and LGU Magsaysay in PESO Magsaysay, Prk 19 Bliss,Poblacion, Magsaysay.

In Davao City, these Tech4ED centers are located in four Davao City Library and Information Centers: Poblacion which is located at C. Bangoy St Poblacion District; Calinan District; Tugbok District; and Toril district.

For Davao Oriental, Tech4ED centers located in City of Mati Municipal compound, Brgy Central, City of Mati; Lupon Vocational High School in Poblacion, Lupon; and FITS Banaybanay, Municipal Compound, Banaybanay.

Meanwhile for Davao del Norte these are Barangay Ising, Carmen; LGU Sto Tomas, municipal compound freder round; and Brgy. Magugpo North barangay hall in Poblacion, Tagum City.

“This is our commitment to Digital Bayanihan: ensuring that technology serves its most important purpose—bringing people together, especially in times of uncertainty and concern,” the agency said.
