RECOGNIZING the vital role of communication in maintaining order, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and local media practitioners gathered for a fellowship aimed at strengthening their partnership for public service.

The event, themed “Together we stand for a safer, more informed community,” was held Friday evening, April 10, at Arcadia in Ecoland.

DCPO City director Col Peter Bauzon Madria, who spearheaded the initiative, described the media as indispensable partners in promoting transparency and accountability.

He emphasized that a direct line between the police and the press is essential to ensure accurate information reaches the public, especially in the fight against crime.

“Effective communication ensures that our citizens stay informed, which ultimately fosters trust and cooperation,” Madria said in his message.

Ruth G. Palo, of News Forth and President of Davao Peace and Security Press Corps, welcomed the initiative, noting that such gatherings bridge the gap between law enforcement and the Fourth Estate.

She reaffirmed the local media’s commitment to responsible reporting while supporting the DCPO’s mission to safeguard the city.

The fellowship highlighted a shared responsibility: while the police enforce the law, the media empowers the citizens through information—both working toward a more peaceful Davao.
