THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) and the local government enhanced their ties to boost peace and order.
City police director Col Peter B. Madria paid a courtesy visit to City Administrator Francis Mark H. Layog and City Information Office head Harvey James C. Lanticse on Wednesday, April 15.
The meeting, held at the City Administrator’s Office, focused on aligning police operations with the strategic priorities of the city government under Mayor Sebastian Z. Duterte.
During the engagement, Madria and Layog discussed intensifying police visibility in public areas and “places of convergence” to deter crimes such as vandalism and robberies.
Madria emphasized that delivering quality service is the foundation of community trust, noting that public cooperation is indispensable in maintaining peace and order.
Layog stressed the need to reinforce Davao’s established “culture of security,” urging for visible, follow-through results that prove progress to the residents. He specifically reiterated the mayor’s hard-line stance on illegal drugs.
Both Layog and Lanticse highlighted the importance of a stronger bridge between the DCPO and the press. They noted that enhanced public relations will help counter misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation, ensuring that instructions to the public are clear and accurate.
Madria pledged that the police force would continue to align its initiatives with the city government’s priorities, ensuring that anti-drug campaigns and public safety programs deliver concrete results for Davaoeños.
