CITY POLICE director, Col Peter Bauzon Madria, conducted a series of on-the-spot inspections on several police stations and checkpoints late on Thursday night, April 16, to reinforce strict discipline and maximize visibility.

Accompanied by Lt Col Melody O. Duropan (C, CARMU) and PEMS Rosenie Cabuenas (DCPO-CESPO),  Madria made unannounced visits to Police Station 13 (Mandug), Police Station 4 (Sasa), Police Station 6 (Bunawan), and the Mahayag Checkpoint.

The ’90/10′ rule

During his stop at PS4 Sasa, under the command of Maj Noe Macolbacol, PCOL Madria issued a directive regarding troop utilization.

He emphasized that 90% of a station’s total personnel must be deployed on the ground to ensure maximum police presence felt by the public. Only the remaining 10% will stay behind for administrative and support duties.

“This ensures that our presence is felt by the Davaoeños where it matters most—on the streets,” Madria noted.

At PS13 Mandug (led by Maj Rejie Torrita) and PS6 Bunawan (led by Maj Janus Macli-ing), the city director inspected personnel appearance, assessed operational readiness, and evaluated functionality.

During the inspection of the Mahayag checkpoint in Bunawan, led by Lt Jojie Sayad, Madria reminded the frontline officers of their critical role in safeguarding the city’s borders. He stressed that while vigilance against criminality is the priority, officers must always uphold professionalism and respect for human rights.

The “on-the-spot” nature of these inspections—conducted from 7 p.m. until nearly midnight—underscores the DCPO’s commitment to accountability, Madria said.
