THE DAVAO Light and Power Company, Inc. (DLPC) officially acquired the Northern Davao Electric Cooperative Inc.’s (Nordeco) assets in Davao del Norte on Mar 25, following the writ of possession issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 2, Tagum City.
Pursuant to a court mandate, four substations (three in Tagum City and one in the Municipality of Asuncion) previously operated by NORDECO were lawfully turned over to DLPC to begin its operations in Tagum City and to the rest of the province, where residents will soon benefit from reliable and affordable electricity services.
The writ of possession dated Feb 27, 2026, granted DLPC to obtain the utility assets, and is in accordance with the Republic Act No. 12144, which authorized the company to expand its franchises in Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro.
During a press conference, DLPC president and chief operating officer Engr. Enriczar Tia says he is hopeful that Nordeco’s board of directors and officers will cooperate to facilitate a smooth and orderly transition.
Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib continued to share his optimism about DLPC’s services, believing that citizens in the province would have sufficient electricity supply, which is crucial for conducting business.

Last Feb 16, 2026, DLPC energized the Davao del Norte Hospital Kapalong Zone to provide the facility with uninterrupted power to meet the electricity demands when performing healthcare operations.
Amidst the oil price hikes triggered by the US-Israel war with Iran, Jubahib also shared that the transition of Davao Light in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCOS) is timely since the island is operated by gensets (generator sets).
The company took over power distribution operations in IGaCOS on Feb 25, 2026, and recently completed its submarine cable in the Pakiputan Strait to connect the island to Davao City.
